About the Business
Established in 1928, W E Cole is a family owned business now entering its 3rd generation. Originally started by William Edgar Cole as tailors and outfitters, with Mr Cole being a "cutter of distinction" making suits from which the old leather order book read like a Who's Who, when local farmers, bank managers, and head teachers would aspire to be seen in a Cole's 3 piece suit. During the war when cloth was rationed, uniforms were the order of the day.
Officers, especially North Weald Airdrome pilots were constantly calling in with more stripes for their sleeves. To date the business has moved into menswear and offers a wide range of top quality clothing, from leading British and European suppliers. Our Epping branch is a 200 year old listed building formally used as a school and doctors home, but has been the home of Cole's since the early 1930's.
