About the Business

Once part of the Wimpole Hall estate, South Farm dates back to the Tudor times of the 16th Century. It was bought as a derelict farm in the 1970’s by Philip Paxman and his family, and over the years, the farmhouse and barns, nestled within 20 acres of glorious grounds, have been lovingly restored and brought back to life, turning South Farm into what it is today.

Following South Farm’s restoration the farmhouse became the Paxman family home where Philip’s two sons, James and Jeremy, were raised. With a keen interest in good food and organic production, a vegetable plot was tentatively mapped out. But since Philip’s retirement as a vet, the hobby has grown into a way of life.

Christine Lyon, in charge of catering, is a talented and versatile chef, while James and his father Philip manage the property andevents with great enthusiasm and dedication, ensuring professional, personal and flexible service. South Farm have a diverse and professional team.

The couples marrying at South Farm support a diverse and talented little community. We have a well-trained team of waiters and waitresses who will go above and beyond to provide an excellent standard of service to you on your special day.
